Perhaps the flat lands of Illinois and my desire to visit the mountains are the reason I got into long distance endurance motorcycle riding. Somewhere along the road I figured I could spend a few days riding to Colorado and then have no time to enjoy it, or I could just cruise the 1,019 miles between me and the mountains in 16 hours and have time to enjoy riding twisty roads. Its no wonder my motto is, So Many Miles, So Little Time - that's probably why I am president of the Iron Butt Association. Riding is my life. Along the way, I have been lucky enough to set several Guinness Book of World Records including New York to San Francisco in 47 hours and 41 minutes, the 24 hour record with 1,707 miles and riding a motorcycle to all 48 contiguous states in 6 days, 13 hours and 21 minutes. I'm happy to say that I'm not in the record books anymore, all these records have been beaten by some great riders. New York to San Francisco has gone to Ken Hatton with 41 hours while Ron Ayres did 48 states in a record 6 days flat!

Boring life stuff:

Stuff you just don't know where to file!:

My favorite book is The New Roadside America by Mike Wilkins, Ken Smith and Doug Dirby. If you like odd places to visit and some unique Americana, this is the book to get a hold of.

Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged is THE book to read. A study on Capitalism and why governments and do-gooders fail....

My reading and mail list favorites no doubt show my true colors, if it is odd, I probably love it! Some of my odd favorites are:

My goals

Places I will probably avoid or least be extra careful while visiting!
